SonaSpray “fc” Complements the Texture Museum of Flax’s Exhibits while Reducing Echo throughout the Space

Located near the city center on the River Leie, Texture is a museum in Kortrijk, Belgium, dedicated to the culture and history of the flax industry. The museum is located within an industrial 1913 dispatching warehouse for flax thread that was reimagined into its current state by the Belgium-based architectural firm noAarchitecten.

To ensure the space would function properly as a museum while also preserving the building’s original historic character, acoustical finishes played an integral role in the project. To address the need for acoustical absorption without compromising the look of the original barrel-vaulted ceiling, SonaSpray “fc” in Arctic White was utilized throughout the space. Spray-applied to the original concrete ceiling, SonaSpray “fc” maintains the look of the original ceiling while ensuring optimum acoustical absorption in areas that would otherwise be very difficult to treat. In addition to acoustic performance, SonaSpray “fc” in White provides high light reflectance and maximizes natural daylighting.
