Sound Control Ceiling Finish for Libraries

Scituate Town Library is the cornerstone of this New England community, offering an expansive collection of books, resources, and materials for readers of all ages, and a wide variety of classes and programs fit for the whole family. The facility was built in 1978 and was recently expanded and renovated by Boston-based firm Oudens-Ello who received the prestigious AIA New England Merit Award for their exemplary work on the project. The addition-renovation project effectively transformed the interior space to address the needs of the current community, while maintaining its original, iconic architectural form.

SonaSpray “fc” in Arctic White was used to address the need for acoustical control in the expansive, open-concept area that serves as the home of the children’s and young adult sections and provides individual study and reading spaces. SonaSpray “fc” was spray-applied to the flat sections of the concrete ceiling, leaving the beams exposed for a streamlined appearance that adds architectural interest. In addition to acoustic performance, SonaSpray “fc” in Arctic White provides high light reflectance to enhance natural daylighting. SonaSpray “fc” is GREENGUARD Gold Certified and contributes towards healthier indoor environments.
