Leading auto parts company LKQ Corporation recently relocated its regional headquarters and operations center to Antioch, Tennessee. Its new state-of-the-art facility encompasses over 100,000 square feet, consolidating all central operations, and brings together over 700 employees beneath one roof.
To ensure the facility would serve as a functional environment, indoor environmental quality and occupant comfort played a key role in the successful design. To address the need for acoustical control within the expansive, open-concept space, K-13 in white was utilized for the ceilings. Spray-applied to the ribbed metal decking, the application of K-13 serves as an exposed interior finish. Unlike hard surfaces and materials, which reflect sound, the application of K-13 absorbs excessive noise and reverberation, which would otherwise be prevalent in this type of environment. In addition to acoustic performance, K-13 in white provides high light reflectance and thermal R-value, helping to reduce the building’s energy consumption. K-13 is GREENGUARD Gold certified and supports healthier indoor environments.
