The Yellow Cup Chose K-13 to Solve Excessive Noise

The Yellow Cup is a premier coffee shop serving craft coffee and espresso, premium teas, and pastries in a cozy environment. Located at the floor level of Elan Memorial Park Luxury Apartments in Houston’s thriving Memorial neighborhood, The Yellow Cup is a local staple in the community.

Due to its location beneath occupied residences, acoustics played a particularly important role in the design. To address the need for acoustical control within the space, without compromising the ceiling height or the design, K-13 in White was utilized as an exposed interior ceiling finish. Unlike the other hard, reflective surfaces used throughout the space, the application of K-13 absorbs echo, reverberation, and excessive noise, which would otherwise be prevalent. In addition to absorbing sound within the space, the application of K-13 also helps to reduce sound transmitting to the occupied spaces above. In addition to acoustic performance, K-13 in White provides high light reflectance and optimizes natural daylighting.
